Creating a physically active lifestyle is essential to good health; but where do we start?
Before our day dreams of hiking adventures with girlfriends can come true, we need to increase our cardiovascular endurance. If we want to walk into the gym with a glow of confidence and eagerness, we must know and practice our routine. To play endlessly in the park with our children and enjoy every moment, we must routinely condition our bodies. In other words, to build a physically active lifestyle, we need a solid foundation of knowledge and experience.
Start with Park Fitness
Park Fitness is an 8-week workshop designed to provide that foundation. This is your opportunity to head to your neighborhood park for a safe, effective, and educational exercise session led by a Certified Fitness Professional. Designed for all fitness levels, Park Fitness gives participants the instructions, tools, and confidence to safely and effectively use their park for regular exercise.
Participants will gain confidence in their understanding of important components of fitness like cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and balance. During the educational portion of each meeting we’ll answer questions like “How much cardio do you really need” and bust myths such as “core exercises to reduce belly fat.” We’ll learn about national recommendations and how to determine what’s right for us.
Practical Applicaion Through Exercise Sessions
Participants will discover how to safely and effectively perform routines for each component of fitness. After a short discussion on our learning objective we’ll perform an exercise session to practically apply what we’re learning. For example; when our learning objective is Muscular Strength we’ll spend some time discussing the benefits and recommendations, then practically apply them in a strength training circuit.
Ready for Regular Exercise
Each participant receives a workbook that includes all learning objectives and exercise session routines with instructions. At the end of our 8-week course you’ll have the tools, experience, and confidence to exercise in your neighborhood park. This workshop is open to all fitness levels. Bring a mat and some water. Hand weights will be provided. We will be outdoors, so we’ll have plenty of space to easily practice social distancing.
